GMB Congress motion 2005

The original motion reads:

This Congress calls on the British Government to support international pressure on the Israeli Government to demolish its illegal “separation wall”.  Specifically, we call on the British Government to support such UN and EU measures designed to encourage the Israeli Government to do so.  Congress believes that a meaningful and lasting political solution to the Israeli/Palestine conflict will not be found whilst Palestinian territory is under occupation.

This was supported with the following qualification:

Whilst the GMB supports any international, UN or EU initiative that will assist the development of the Middle East peace process, our efforts will remain focused on the need to continue working with both Israeli and Palestinian trade unionists, to help achieve a lasting settlement to the conflict which has cost the lives of people on both sides.
