All of this had to be
reviewed following Yousef's tragic death on 15 January 2001. He
had always been the prime instigator of most TUFP activity and his
death created a vacuum with which we are still coming to terms.
By way of commemoration to Yousef, TUFP organised a number of
initiatives in 2001:
•TUFP and LMEC jointly organised two memorial events at the House of
Commons in memory of Yousef Allan
•A memorial fund was established which has raised in excess of
£2,000 - part of this has been used to develop this joint website
•10,000 copies of a special edition of "The Palestine Post" were
prepared in the spring for use at Union Conferences.
•In conjunction with the STUC another issue was produced in the autumn
following an STUC delegation to Palestine. This was distributed
widely in the Scottish Labour Movement as well as at the TUC and Labour
Party Conferences.
•Reception/fringe meetings were organised at both Conferences although
the TUC event had to be postponed because of the events on 11 September.
